A Datathon is an event that partners up curious, clever, quantitative data people with curious, clever, empathetic non-profits to take a stab at real analytical challenges that our partner non-profit organizations are facing. During 24 hours, volunteers have a chance to step away from regular problem sets, contribute to a good cause, and meet other socially minded problem solvers. ## Who's involved & what are the projects? #### **German Red Cross - Comparing web scraping & NLP results with manual data collection methods** The German Red Cross is a non-profit organization offering a wide range of services within and outside Germany. For example, it provides more than 52 hospitals, elderly care, care for children and youth, such as kindergartens, and a variety of social services for people in need. In two project phases, the Data Science Hub of the DRK and DSSG Berlin compiled social offerings across Germany using web scraping and processed them in an NLP pipeline.
